Botanical Name: Indigofera lindheimeriana
Common Name: Lindheimer's Indigo
A shrubby plant with a pink to salmon colored bloom. The pinnately compound leaves typical of the pea family are a grayish green and are soft to the touch. This shrubby native can grow from 2 to 6 feet in height and can be found along the gravel bars and floodplains of our Texas Hill Country Rivers. It is a great riparian plant helping to add stability in these easily flooded areas. Lindheimer's indigo is the larval food source of the Reakerts Blue, Grey Hairstreak, and Dogface Butterflies. Blooms from May through August. Reaches a height of 3-6ft tall. Texas Native.
